Amon was speaking to reporters from South Korea in the backdrop of Qualcomm’s latest chip announcements, including the flagship Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. He added that chip supply has already increased from 2020, adding that it could improve further in 2022. The chip crisis has hit Qualcomm pretty hard as it was unable to provide enough processors to phone makers. This eventually led to the cancellation of multiple products. The impact was prominent on Samsung which happens to be one of the largest smartphone producers in the world....

Samsung reportedly estimates a total of 1.52 billion smartphones to be sold globally next year, up 7.6 percent year-on-year (YoY) from 2021. The company is aiming to capture a 21.9 percent share of the market, The Elec claims. The publication cites Samsung’s official smartphone shipment plan for 2022. The Korean firm had reportedly shared the info with its major suppliers. Looking at the figures for recent years, Samsung is expecting quite an upturn in its fortunes....

On August 11 at 10AM EDT, Samsung will debut a few new products. Judging by the invite, it looks like the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 3 will debut at this event. And given the fact that Samsung stated last month at MWC, that it would debut its next smartwatch at “an Unpacked event later this summer”, it’s safe to say the Galaxy Watch 4 is coming too....

The stable One UI 4.0 update for the Galaxy Z Fold 2 is rolling out with firmware version F916BXXS2FULE. The new release also bundles the December 2021 Android security patch. Though this month’s SMR (security maintenance release) brings fixes for plenty of vulnerabilities found in Android OS as well as Samsung’s One UI, it’s of little significance in front of the number of other goodies that are part and parcel of this update....
