That’s according to a recent report from 9to5Google. And the Gboard feature in question is, of course, the keyboard’s ability to pull “key snippets” from copied text. Specifically, it’s ability to pull out addresses, phone numbers, and similar details from a block of text the user copies. Those are displayed as their own “chips” just above the keyboard for easier, standalone copying. Gboard keeps key snippets for those who want it, so how do you kill them?...

Last month, the redesign for Google One began when the home screen changed to a grid layout. The new layout makes more information visible to the user. Highlighting details about VPN status, storage space, the clean-up tool and backups. The new update brings an always-visible sidebar that will replace the bottom bar from the previous design. It consumes less space and displays more information. In portrait orientation, the sidebar collapses and hides the Membership Plans, Settings, Help, Send Feedback, Privacy Policy, and Terms of Service sections in a separate drawer....

The Google Play Store historically listed the app version number as the first item under the “App info” section of a listing’s description, which you can find by tapping the “About this app” button. However, as reported by 9to5Google, some users have noticed that the item is missing on their device. Specifically, Google has removed that information for the phone versions of the apps. If you have a Wear OS smartwatch linked to the same Google account, the Play Store will show the version number for only the smartwatch version of the app....

This change allows Google to add a “More” button to the right-hand side of the screen. Tapping this opens all subscriptions in a grid view. This is particularly beneficial for users with many podcasts, allowing for easy viewing of each subscription. While the Home tab remains largely unchanged beyond this, each episode card now gets an overflow menu in the bottom right corner. Tapping this opens options to share the episode or “Mark as played....

If, for example, you’re trying to visit Twitter.com to adjust a web-specific setting, you’ll automatically be redirected to the app. And that holds for just about any app that has a web presence, too. Potentially causing significant problems for those few that do have different online and offline features. Fortunately, with Android, you do also have the option to put a stop to that for any individual application. And, of course, if you make a mistake in setting those features to your liking, it’s easy enough to set all of the apps back to their default settings on Android too....
